Ratings are updated annually based on two broad areas of a charity's performance: Financial Health and Accountability & Transparency. Charity Navigator applies an overall rating (zero-to-four stars).
CharityWatch is a nonprofit charity watchdog and information service that provides ratings for approximately 500 major U.S. charities. Ratings are updated annually using data from the IRS Form 990 and audited financial statements.
